Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1 Arrive Buenos Aires, Argentina
Arrive in the cosmopolitan heart of Buenos Aires.
Guests will be met in Buenos Aires and transferred to the Alvear Art Hotel, or similar.
Arrival Time: Arrive before 11:00 am local time.
Day 2 Fly Ushuaia, depart for Antarctica
Fly south to Ushuaia, gateway to Antarctica. This remote frontier — set between jagged peaks and the icy waters of the Beagle Channel — is rich in natural drama.
Visit the windswept landscapes of Tierra del Fuego National Park, where southern beech forests echo the ancient flora of Antarctica. Cruise the Beagle Channel by private catamaran, scanning the shorelines for South American sea lions and seabirds like imperial cormorants with their striking sapphire eyes. By evening, you’ll be aboard your expedition ship, bound for the White Continent.
Days 3 - 4 At Sea – Crossing the Drake Passage
Cross the fabled Drake Passage, a biological corridor that teems with life. Watch for the silhouettes of albatross gliding on outstretched wings, and for dusky dolphins or orcas slicing through the swell.
These days at sea offer time to tune your senses to the rhythm of the Southern Ocean. Learn from naturalists about penguin behaviour, whale identification, and the icy ecosystems you’ll soon step into. From the Bridge or observation decks, you’ll find that even the open sea holds stories.
Day 5 - 9 Exploring the Antarctic Peninsula
Antarctica invites exploration on nature’s terms — and wildlife is always at the heart of it. With extended daylight hours, you’ll have more time to observe and immerse. Zodiacs may glide past leopard seals basking on ice floes, while kayaks offer a quiet vantage for watching penguins torpedo through the shallows.
You might land among thousands of Adélie or gentoo penguins — colonies alive with sound, movement, and the rituals of breeding season. Weddell seals lounge in the snow, while skuas circle overhead. Offshore, humpback whales lunge-feed through krill clouds and orcas prowl the margins.
Ice is its own form of wildlife here: sculptural, luminous, and always shifting. From towering blue bergs to the fragile sheen of new sea ice, it shapes every moment of the journey.
Days 10 - 11 At Sea – Crossing the Drake Passage
As the ship turns north, the coast fades but the memories linger. Perhaps it’s the eye contact with a curious seal, the synchronised dive of penguins, or the hush that fell as a whale surfaced alongside the bow.
Enjoy time to reflect and reconnect — through photos, shared stories, or one last lecture from the expedition team. A farewell dinner brings the voyage to a close.
Day 12 Disembark in Ushuaia, Fly Buenos Aires
Disembark in Ushuaia and board the recommended flight back to Buenos Aires, where you'll connect with your onward travel.
